What a Week For Miami Football!

The Hurricanes and Dolphins won!  The Canes were supposed to win but they looked great.  Robert Marve looked like he's going to be a player.  I think they can win the ACC.  They'll be tested a little harder next week against UNC.

The bigger surprise was the Dolphins.  They dominated the Patriots on both sides of the ball.  I wasn't surprised that they played good defense because Matt Cassell is terrible.  I was really surprised at how well the Fins looked on offense.

#1 : Chad Pennington looked great.  He worked the entire field and was incredibly accurate.  He even got Ted Ginn into the mix.

#2: The offensive line was very impressive.  Did anyone see Jake Long completely own Richard Seymour all game?  Jake is going to be a Pro Bowler for years to come.

#3:  Ronnie and Ricky looked good for the first time this season.  Ronnie Brown scored 4 on the ground and threw for 1 touchdown.  Ricky added almost 100 yards.  They made the Pats look stupid with that Wildhog formation that Mcfadden made famous in college.

Hopefully they continue their good play.

SD-Denver controversy

Everyone and their mothers know what happened in this game so I won't bother to explain it.  I just wanted to say that San Diego and Norv Turner need to stop the bitching.  The call was horrible, everyone knows that.  Fact is, they still had a shot at stopping them.  And then Denver went for two and converted on the same exact play!  Eddie Royal made the same move twice!  No excuses.

Kanye West - Love Lockdown

kanYe West : Blog

Kanye's first single off his new album.

I wasn't feeling this shit at first, but he messed with it a bit, released it again and it sounds better.  A lot of people are sick of the vocoder but if he's using it right, who cares?  This song is gonna be a massive hit.

Vince Young?

Apparently Vince Young is crazy.  I'm sure most of you have read the story on ESPN today that says that his family and the Titans were worried about his 'emotional state'.  They sent the cops to look for his ass after he left his house unexpectedly.

Has he finally realized that he's not that great of a quarterback?  The dude has been 'the man' everywhere he has gone, until now.  Maybe he can't handle the boos and the constant criticism.

Or maybe it's just a Texas thing?  Ricky Williams, Cedric Benson and now Vince Young.  What is Mack Brown feeding these g
uys?

Here's a pic that might explain it all.  What the fuck is he doing shirtless in a club surrounded by other shirtless dudes?  Is he gearing up for a coming out of the closet press conference?

NFL Week 1 Thoughts

Tom Brady is out for the season.  What does this mean?  It means that the AFC East is now up for grabs.  Anyone can win it now.

The Bills looked like the front runners on Sunday.  They made the Seahawks their bitches.  Remember though, Seattle was playing without 3 of their top WRs.  Either way they looked great.

Jets and Dolphins are pretty much a wash.  If it wasn't for that ridiculous cag that Favre threw up on 4th down, the Fins would've had the game.

Other things that I found interesting:

Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco both won their first games as rookies.  Good for them.

Michael "The Burner" Turner blew up for 220 yards rushing in his first game as a starter for the Falcons.  I knew he was good but not that good.  If he holds up Atlanta has a very explosive four headed monster on offense with Ryan, Turner, Norwood and Roddy White.  Things are looking up for the Dirty Birds.

Chargers blew a lead to the Panthers and lost on a ridiculous last second TD pass by Jake Delhomme, and people are still calling the Chargers the team to beat after Brady went down.  A championship team doesn't let that happen to them.  It's the first week, I know.  That's why I'll cut them some slack.

Browns were disappointing in their loss to the Cowboys.  How long until Brady Quinn starts?

Aaron Rodgers played very efficiently, which I expected.  He might be better for the Pack than Favre because he doesn't have many screws loose in his head and won't throw unnecessary bad throws.

The Vikings can't win the Super Bowl without a better QB.

Jay Cutler and Eddie Royal made DeAngelo Hall look silly last night.

That's all for now.

Canes Lost, But...

They looked promising!  They might even win the ACC with the way their defense played and how everyone else in the conference has looked.  They have some real nice looking players (no homo), on defense.

Next up, @ Texas A & M (who they demolished last season).

Miami Hurricanes @ Florida Gators (2/6/08, 8 PM ET)

I've lived in Miami all my life so unlike some weird people who shall remain nameless, I support all the city's teams.  I'm a huge Dolphins, Heat and Hurricanes football fan.  Marlins are secondary for me but only because I don't follow baseball as closely as I once did.  The Florida Panthers play hockey and because of that I know nothing about them.  If they ever make a playoff run again though, I'll jump on their bandwagon.  I just wanted to introduce myself just case any random people wander onto this site and start reading.

Well this weekend is the biggest Hurricanes game in a few years and definitely the biggest game in Randy Shannon's short career.  They are heavily, heavily favored to LOSE.  The spread is 21 fucking points!  The once mighty Canes are getting 21 points!  Any smart gambler would take that bet in a second.  But wait!  It's the Gators we are talking about here, man!  The #5 team in the country!  The inhabitants of "The Swamp"!  They have God playing quarterback for them for Christ's sake!  Tim Tebow is like a mythical creature over there in Gainesville.  The way these Gator fans talk about him makes me believe I'll turn into a pillar of salt if I look into his eyes.

Look, don't get me wrong... the Gators should and will probably win by a good amount of points.  Tebow deserves all the credit he gets from the media and the Gators are an extr
emely talented team with a very good coach.

It's just things like what Florida receiver Louis Murphy said about the Canes that make me want to put my homer shoes on.  He had this to say after the Gators destruction of Hawaii last weekend, "If I'm right, the 'U' stands for the University of Miami.  Well we're the University of Florida.  We're the 'U'.  I don't refer to them as the 'U'.  I refer to them as Miami.  If the 'U' is for university and winning and championships, we're the 'U'.  They are Miami and that's what I call them."

Nice bulletin board material Louie!  Lets break this stupid quote down into pieces, shall we?  First off, the nickname 'The U' actually stems from the Hurricanes logo on their helmet.  I'm not sure if he has seen the logo but it is a giant green and orange 'U'.

On top of the fact that he has no idea why they are even called 'The U', he says that Florida is the real 'U' because they are about winning and championships.  The Hurricanes have won 5 national titles compared to the 2 that UF has won.  Yeah, yeah, yeah... I know the Gators have been the better team the past few years, but you don't talk about lack of championships when talking about the Canes.

Lastly, the nickname has a lot to do with players that they produce and send to the NFL.  Gather up a team of Hurricanes in the NFL and you'll have a legit contender.  Hell, even starting Vinny Testaverde at quarterback they would have a shot.  They have the most players of any university in the NFL as of 2006, and should still have that lead.

Enough of me ranting, though.  I must sound like a bitter fan, LOL.  Well I'm not, I just hope the Canes can make a game out of it and gain some respect.  The talent is there and is going to get better, but they need that Santana Moss swagger back.  Only way they will get it back is by playing like they belong in the top 25.
